PNGCJE Delivers Second Generative AI Bootcamp to Strengthen Digital Capability Across the Judiciary

The Papua New Guinea Centre for Judicial Excellence (PNGCJE) has successfully delivered and funded a second Generative AI for Beginners Bootcamp for National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) staff, reinforcing ongoing efforts to build digital literacy, technological innovation and workplace efficiency across the Judiciary.

The three-day instructor-led training programme, conducted at the PNGCJE Training Room, brought together a second cohort of participants from various divisions of the NJSS following the successful completion of the inaugural programme earlier this year.

Designed for non-technical users, the bootcamp provided participants with foundational knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI, while equipping them with practical skills to utilise emerging technologies in their daily work.

Participants explored key concepts in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics and generative AI through a combination of live instruction, demonstrations and hands-on learning activities. The programme also introduced practical applications of AI tools to support productivity, research, communication, decision-making and workplace efficiency.

A major focus of the training was the practical use of generative AI technologies. Participants were introduced to OpenAI tools, including ChatGPT, and learned how AI can be applied to content generation, workflow enhancement, information analysis and problem-solving in professional environments.

The bootcamp also covered emerging technologies and industry applications such as data visualisation, natural language processing, computer vision, recommendation systems and machine learning models commonly used across modern organisations.

Delivered over three consecutive days with intensive training sessions, the programme aimed to demystify AI concepts and architectures while providing staff with the confidence and competence to engage with AI-powered technologies responsibly and effectively.

Participants were drawn from a range of departments, reflecting the Judiciary’s commitment to ensuring that emerging technologies can be understood and utilised across all functional areas of the organisation.

By supporting a second cohort of staff through this specialised training, PNGCJE continues to promote technological innovation and professional development within the Judiciary. The initiative demonstrates the Centre’s commitment to equipping judicial officers and court staff with the knowledge and skills required to adapt to an increasingly digital and technology-driven environment.

The successful completion of the second Generative AI for Beginners Bootcamp further strengthens the Judiciary’s capacity to explore the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence in support of judicial administration, service delivery and organisational effectiveness.
