PNGCJE in Partnership with the Federal Court of Australia holds Court Officer Training Workshop in Tonga

Managing and Reporting on Fraud and Corruption Cases

The PNGCJE and the Federal Court of Australia hosted twenty-six Registrars and Court Officers from across the Pacific in conjunction with the Tonga Supreme Court in Tonga on 6-8 November 2024. The workshop dealt with Managing and Reporting on Fraud and Corruption Cases.

The workshop provided an opportunity for regional sharing of best practice, experience and resources to broaden the knowledge base and enhance avenues for Registrars and Court Officers to develop skills and lessons relevant for the context of their court. It was opened with remarks from the Honourable Justice Nicholas Cooper of the Supreme Court of Tonga, and a welcome address by Australian High Commissioner to Tonga His Excellency Brek Batley.

The workshop is one of many activities delivered under the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade funded Pacific Judicial Integrity Program. This program is implemented by the Federal Court of Australia in partnership with the Papua New Guinea Centre for Judicial Excellence (PNGCJE).

Ms. Arabella Owen, PNGCJE Program Officer for Court Officers in the Pacific assisted in the coordination efforts for this successful regional workshop.
