Professor Mary Keyes Pays Courtesy Call on Judge Administrator Justice John Carey

Professor Mary Keyes, Professor of International Law at Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia, paid a courtesy call on Judge Administrator Justice John Carey during her visit to the Papua New Guinea Centre for Judicial Excellence (PNGCJE).

Justice Carey, who also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Griffith University, welcomed Professor Keyes and expressed his appreciation for the strong academic and professional links between Griffith University and the PNG Centre for Judicial Excellence.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both academics and judicial leaders to discuss matters of mutual interest, including developments in international law, legal education, judicial training, and opportunities for strengthening collaboration between Griffith University and PNGCJE.

Professor Keyes acknowledged Justice Carey’s contributions to the judiciary and to legal education through his role as an Adjunct Professor at Griffith University. She emphasized the importance of fostering relationships between universities and judicial institutions to support excellence in legal scholarship and professional development.

Justice Carey noted that partnerships between academia and the judiciary play an important role in promoting the rule of law, advancing legal research, and preparing future generations of legal professionals.

The courtesy call reflects the strong ties between Griffith University and PNGCJE and highlights a shared commitment to advancing legal education, research, judicial excellence, and professional engagement across the region.
