Chief Justice meets with delegates from The High People’s Court of Beijing Municipality
The Chief Justice of Papua New Guinea Sir Gibbs Salika had a high-level meeting with delegates from the High People’s Court of Beijing Municipality on October 21, 2024.
The delegation of five was led by Sun Linling who is the Vice President of the High People’s Court of Beijing Municipality.
The delegation included;
1. Xiao Jianfeng – Chief Justice of the 1st Criminal Division, The High People’s Court of Beijing Municipality;
2. Chen Weihong – Chief Judge of the 2nd Criminal Division, The High People’s Court of Beijing Municipality;
3. Zhou Weihong – Vice President, The Primary People’s Court of Chaoyang District of Beijing Municipality; and
4. Lin Yun – Vice President, The Primary People’s Court of Fengtai District of Beijing Municipality.
They met with the Chief Justice and Justice John Carey, Judge Administrator PNG Centre for Judicial Excellence (PNGCJE) who presented to them on the Court Structure of the Judiciary which included the Village Court, District Court and the National Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court structure. There was also a presentation on PNGCJE and its mandate.
The delegates also did Court observations in a civil and criminal proceedings which was co-ordinated by Mr. Paul Kelly, Advisor to the Chief Justice and Mrs. Stacey Levakia-Wali, PNGCJE Assistant Director.
